Blogging with WordPress is vastly different than blogging on other platforms such as tumblr, blogger, etc. One of the biggest differences is the wide variety of powerful, flexibly, and incredibly well designed themes available to the WordPress community. In today’s post I’ve gathered together just ten of the hundreds, perhaps thousands, of beautiful WordPress blogging themes you can use with a WordPress blog.
In particular, many of the themes I’ve collected below are magazine or news style blog themes with many options for content heavy blogs on just about any subject. Though a few are designed with one or two content types or subjects in mind. That said though, I’m excited to present my recent finds and I’m confident that anyone looking to start the next big WordPress blog can find something here to get them started and launch them to success.
Best WordPress Blog Themes
Note: The themes I’ve included in the roundup below are listed in no particular order, except that which I found them in. I did my best to find highly rated and well reviewed themes by trusted authors that then also passed my personal inspection–albeit, in most cases, only via demo mode and not through a personal purchase and installation.
If you are looking for a simple looking WP blog theme with an option to customize almost every part of it, then BlogPost theme might be the right choice for you. It loads all the information through Ajax which means it works without page loads. That is crucial as it provides a smooth experience to the visitor and improves page loading times significantly. Keep in mind that google and other search engines include page loading time as their ranking factor. A nice little feature is the ability for readers to favorite posts for later reading.
Slider Revolution (save $19) and Visual Composer (save $34) is included.

This theme offers a lot of customizations options, in total it comes with more than 100 theme options and on top of it, you can easily change the colors and fonts of your website which I think that is what every theme should come as a standard option as every brand is different and a blog should represent authors style and not be looking exactly the same as thousands more website who are using the same theme.
This theme works great on every platform, including retina-ready displays and any mobile device.

Newspaper takes a commendable and (I think) notable route in designing their theme not just around a magazine/news/blog style homepage but in making its articles themselves look great. That’s not to suggest that the other themes here do not spend enough time and energy on their articles, but out of all of them this theme seems to be most concerned with the reading experience. Which, I think, will make a big difference in the long haul.
